Inkungu LodgeLodge and luxury chalets in the Champagne Valley of the Drakensberg.Description Inkungu Lodge gets its name from the Zulu word 'IzinKungu', meaning 'mist', an apt name when one looks over the valley at the morning mist covering the dam. This harmony with nature has been carried through every aspect of the lodge - the sandstone walls, natural gardens and rim flow pools blend perfectly with majesty of the surrounding Drakensberg mountain range. Inkungu Lodge has stunning upmarket finishes throughout. Each room has been uniquely furnished, and the Lodge showcases a fine collection of predominantly Victorian and Edwardian furniture. Many of the pieces on display can trace their history back to the Boere War. Guests have a choice of accommodation including a romantic honeymoon suite and an executive Presidential suite, decorated with furniture from the Napoleonic era. The lodge boasts a fully equipped kitchen with experienced staff and an executive chef to provide sumptuous breakfasts, lunches and dinners. A well-stocked bar opens onto the swimming pool area, and there's a wine cellar which includes a private collection for the discerning connoisseur. The fireplaces and communal lounge area provide a welcome retreat from the winter cold. Reading areas and workstations are set aside throughout the lodge for your convenience, as well as 3 additional lounge areas which are ideal for a private escape. For the leisure-seekers, the Estate Lapa is equipped with indoor relaxation activities, a communal braai area and a natural rock swimming pool. Inkungu Lodge is an excellent location for small to medium conferences and intimate weddings. There are various recreational activities available on site and in the surrounding area. The dam offers trout fishing facilities and has become home to an abundant birdlife and other small mammals. Hiking trails, horse rides and specifically placed picnic sites give adventurous visitors hours of natural exploring. Golf enthusiasts have an option of two courses on their doorstep.
